Check out the below projects for inspiration.

26 Letters 26,000 Miles

By Lauren Hom

In January 2016, Lauren will be selling all of her belongings, stuffing a few sundresses and a sketchbook into a backpack, and traveling for the entire year. She’s planning on visiting more than 20 countries and setting foot on every continent. She is planning to fund her 26,000 mile journey around the world with 26 letters.

40 Days of Dating

By Jessica Walsh and Timothy Goodman

On this project lettering is not the main focus, but if you look you will find works of many different artists in there. The project is more about an experiment though, of two very good friends that set themselves the challenge to date for 40 days and document their journey. The result is a great read – inspirational for both design and life.

The Spewbag Challenge

The Spewbag Challenge

By Gemma O’Brien

Gemma is quite a jet setter and spends a lot of time travelling, which results in a lot of time to kill on long plane rides. She decided to start the #spewbagchallenge on Instagram, which entails finishing a piece of lettering within the duration of your flight featuring a vomit-related pun. The idea has since been repurposed through the Quantas blank canvas campaign, with the original hashtag still going strong on Instagram.

Lettering VS Calligraphy

By Martina Flor and Giuseppe Salerno

This project aims to show the difference between lettering and calligraphy in a visual dialogue between a letterer and a calligrapher. Martina and Giuseppe both drew/wrote a letter responding to a keyword. Letters were posted daily on the website and visitors were invited to vote for their favourite. The project resulted in an exhibition, a book, various workshops and quite a bit of press coverage.
